Introduction: Lighting design is complex but simple. We can use ten words to summarize the essence of lighting design, lighting design and home-for example, to illustrate this. Which ten words it? Allow me to secrecy, take your time.
I. What to light
'What photo' is usually caused by the use of the space to determine the characteristics and the object to be irradiated in the irradiation surface which plays an important role, such as the living room, bedroom, and restaurants, are different.
Typically, to determine how a space of the lighting design, can be considered in three levels:
1. Task Lighting
2. Accent Lighting
3. Ambient Lighting or Space Lighting
Our so-called 'see' does not refer to light itself, but means the perceived light after reflection by the surface of the image. Therefore, we need to consider the characteristics of the surface to be illuminated:
It is bright or dark? Dark surfaces absorb more light, less reflective;
Is it polished or mirror? Reflected image on polished surface;
Is its texture subtle or rough? Surface textures will scatter light;
Do we want to highlight or weaken its color? The color of the surface of an object is determined by the color rendering ability of the light source.
As the first step in lighting design work, the space should be analyzed first:
Function: What activities do people perform in the space?
Visual homework: What visual homework do people need to complete in the space?
Objects: What do you most want people to see
Architectural features: what is worth highlighting?
Furniture location: Where do people sit? Or where do you stand?
Mood: what kind of atmosphere that people want? Need to change?
Style: There is nothing that should go along with the lighting?
Step Two: Try to set priorities
What is most important? To try to find a space you want it to catch the eye of the visual focus. In the dining room or living room, it is likely to be a table, a painting, or the like vases and fireplace. Of course, in a space that may have multiple illumination target priorities, these goals need to consider task lighting and accent lighting.
Finally, the space as a whole to consider.
Illuminating the walls can make the space appear more open;
Hidden creating an intimate atmosphere in soft light furniture around;
'Twinkle' the kind of lighting that conveys a festive atmosphere;
Indirect lighting make the space light outstanding ceiling appear to be more formal and more open;
Irradiating a focused rug may make the space appear more warm and comfortable, but when the light is projected directly to a very smooth surface, such as glass tops and marble floors, may cause discomfort glare.
How to light
Once you have analyzed the space and the desired effect, it can be carried out using three basic lighting design lighting method.
Ambient lighting-basic lighting, which means:
1. Make people move easily and safely
2.Indicate the characteristics of space
Make the space look bigger
4. Make the space more comfortable by balancing the surface brightness of the space
The bottom-lit basic lighting that illuminates the objects and surfaces of the lower space can create a warm and intimate feeling, while the indirect lighting that illuminates the ceiling and the walls makes the space look more rational, quiet and spacious.
Accent lighting-illuminate special areas
Accent lighting adds extra light to a particular object surface. Accent lighting can attract the eye, enhance the dramatic effect, and arouse people's interest. It's like saying, 'Hey, look here!'
Job lighting-illuminate the work surface
Job lighting illuminates the areas where we work: such as reading, writing, preparing food, doing laundry, games or manual work. Writing and reading generally require sufficient and good diffused light to illuminate from the shoulders or sides; for kitchens and craftsmanship, a concentrated beam of light from above usually works well.
